Mirabilé Ladies Ensemble was established in 2002 by the late Joy Nicol, consisting of about 14 ladies who all reside in the Nottinghamshire area.

I enjoyed singing from an early age, as a member of school choirs and Nottingham County Choir.

I continued singing when I studied A' Level Music at Clarendon College, and at University, performing in various exciting venues around Europe. As a Music Teacher I have encouraged my students to sing too, as I believe the benefits of singing for every musician is so important.

I really enjoy singing with Mirabilé.  I find the challenge of performing at such a high standard really exciting. I am sure that under Roselise's direction we will continue to grow, and I very much look forward to our future experiences, with a lovely bunch of people.

I started singing as a teenager in Burnley Youth Choir before going on to study Music and Education at Trinity and All Saints College in Leeds. I’ve been teaching Music in secondary schools in the North West and Nottingham for many years now, but have only recently started singing again – and I’m loving it! Working with such a committed, talented (and sociable!) group has inspired me to improve my own vocal technique and to become more confident as a singer.

From whenever I can remember I have always had a passion for singing and I used to love singing along to Deanna Durbin or Jeanette MacDonald films and records. I sang in the school choir and have always been a bit of a show off (ha ha).

I went to Music College in Scotland (Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama).  I spent 2 years singing with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, in the chorus, doing small parts and covering main roles. During my second year with them I auditioned for English National Opera and was successful.

A change in my personal circumstances brought me back to Nottinghamshire and I joined Mirabilé due to its very high standard of singing and friendly atmosphere.

I still love singing along to Deanna Durbin or Jeanette MacDonald and I am still a bit of a show off, so some things never change (ha ha).

I have been singing from a very early age and my first experience was a part in Oliver at school. Following this I joined the choir and sang as a soloist in school competitions and then at university as part of an SATB choir- Viva Voce.

After completing my Music degree at Nottingham I joined Mirabile with a housemate. I continue to enjoy singing as part of an ensemble and enjoy the challenge that every new piece brings.

I  joined Cantamus Girls Training Choir in the first intake at the age of 10. At 15 I moved up to the main choir until University took over at 18. Since then I was in the wilderness until asked to audition for Mirabilé by a friend in the group....

I started singing at the age of 5 and always cherished opportunities to perform. I have enjoyed chorus and solo parts in various works from opera and oratorio to musical theatre.  I have performed at many social occasions including corporate functions and weddings. Mirabilé has given me a unique platform to perform with new challenges that I find exciting.

I started singing lessons at the age of 11, progressing to Grade 8 and at the age of 16 had the fantastic opportunity to join the prestigious National Youth Choir of Great Britain with whom I sang in numerous concerts and a 7 week pacific tour during my 3 years with the choir.  Since then, I have continued singing, firstly with the Nottingham University Chamber Choir and now with Mirabilé, of whom I am a founder member.

I vary between singing alto to second soprano parts and my lighter voice suits particularly some of the lighter classical and musical theatre pieces performed by Mirabilé.

I was first inspired to start singing at the age of 14 when I joined a local operatic society in my home town of Liverpool for their production of the "King and I". Since then I have performed with many local societies across the East Midlands in a wide range of productions from Grand Opera to Gilbert and Sullivan to Sondheim, as well as taking part in festivals in both the UK and Ireland. Being a member of Mirabilé has provided a unique experience to sing in a small, friendly group and has opened up new horizons in terms of repertoire and standards.

I was first thrust into the singing spotlight when I was dragged along to Ingatestone Operatic Society in Essex by a friend's mum! I spent many a happy year hiding at the back of the chorus through all sorts of popular musicals, from Fiddler on the Roof through to Hello Dolly.

A career move to Nottingham opened up more opportunities and an introduction to Gilbert and Sullivan, from which I was thankfully saved by Mirabilé  - my most challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and singing experience yet.

I started singing way back at primary school and as I enjoyed it so much, I took lessons at secondary school and eventually got my Grade 8. I cannot remember a time when I have not been with a vocal group, ranging from school choirs, madrigal groups, a chamber choir, brief stints in a pop band, a barber shop quartet, local community choirs and now Mirabilé.

I really enjoy the blend of sound and harmonies that we make in Mirabilé and feel that we really communicate our pieces well as we perform all pieces without reading the music.

I've been a performer since a very young age but only found out whilst studying GCSE music that I could actually hold a tune and also that I couldn't play the keyboard! I've been performing with Mirabilé for 7 years now and I'm still loving it. It can very challenging and I still get distracted listening to everyone else but such a rewarding experience. Out of Mirabilé I'm very into musicals and old swing music so it's a brilliant contrast and really gives me the chance to step out of my comfort zone!

I have always loved to sing and first started singing to an audience at the age of thirteen, in a large, mixed choir for the production of Joseph. I have continued to enjoy singing, mainly in the background on many productions such as Carmen, Patience and Guys and Dolls.

Mirabilé, however, gives me the opportunity to play a more prominent part in a combined sound, with high expectations and greater reward.
